    National History Day

    National History Day is a comprehensive program that not only teaches critical thinking, writing, and research skills but also fosters a deep understanding of historical context and analysis. It prepares us for the academic challenges of college by encouraging them to explore complex topics, engage in primary and secondary source research, and effectively communicate their findings. The National Contest is the culmination of the annual competition cycle and a celebration of student scholarship. After spending months on project research and preparation, we competed at local and state contests, and invited to share our work at the State Capital.

    DECA stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America, and it’s an organization that prepares high school and college students to become leaders and entrepreneurs in fields like marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.  Each year, we develop an international business plan aimed at supporting underserved communities and compete in DECA competitions to present and refine our ideas. Through this initiative, we strive to create sustainable solutions that address real-world challenges, making a positive impact on communities in need while honing our business and leadership skills.

    IBMA

    The International Business and Marketing Academy (IBMA) exists to provide students opportunities to develop skills in Business and Marketing. Upon completion of the academy, students will be able to conduct basic accounting, marketing and management functions for a business. We host the IBMA Annual LIFE Event at the James E. Reese Center. This event is a great opportunity for members of the community and their families to learn about financial literacy at all ages. Each year, IBMA students present their final pitches to a panel of local business leaders upon graduation.     Formed in 1996, the Missouri City Mayor’s Youth Commission was designed for youth representing their city, community, and schools to work toward the common purpose of developing their individual leadership skills to strengthen their communities through volunteer service and increased communication with municipal leaders.     LaunchX Program Experience

    Headed north this summer to Ann Arbor—a hub of innovators and entrepreneurs eager to change the world. Eighty students came together to live in college dorms and developed a startup in just four weeks! During the program, we formed deep connections with other Launchies through community events, explored the university’s campus, and created a new company through shared ideas and experiences. As with the other entrepreneurship programs, every student presents at Demo Day, we present our product or service and gain valuable feedback from industry experts on the panel.

    Digital Health Young Scholars Program

    The Digital Health Young Scholars Program is made possible by the Precise Advanced Technologies and Health Systems for Underserved Populations (PATHS-UP) and Expeditions in Computing. This summer program is a three-week program aims to introduce them to digital circuitry, computer science, physics, and engineering research at Rice University and its practical applications in the health care field. During this program, we work with and combine instruments such as pulse oximeters, accelerometers, GPS devices, speakers, and microphones to understand a major tenet of the research theme and construct an introductory device that mirrors the type of technology being created at the engineering research center.   • Water Cube Contest

    The Water Cube Cup

    The Water Cube Cup is an annual singing competition that promotes Chinese language and culture through the universal medium of music. It attracts participants from around the world, who compete by singing popular Chinese songs. This event allows students to learn and grow through music competitions, exchange friendships and cultures, and promote collaborations globally. Each year, a select group of winners is invited to a two-week summer music camp to gain further insights from music professionals.

  • Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Tour

    Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a national association in the United States that supports and promotes court-appointed advocates for abused or neglected children. Proceeds from the event benefit Child Advocates of Fort Bend—a nonprofit organization that provides support and raises awareness for children affected by trauma, abuse and neglect. The CASA tour—which showcases lavish holiday home decorations in some of Sugar Land and Missouri City’s premier neighborhoods—is underwritten by the Fred and Mabel R. Parks Foundation. Other underwriters include the Exchange Club of Quail Valley and Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital as well as several other businesses, organizations and individuals.

    GRAMMY Camp

    GRAMMY Camp embodies the GRAMMY Museum’s mission and educational initiatives. It focuses on all aspects of commercial music and provides instruction by industry professionals in an immersive, creative environment. The program offers eight music career tracks: Audio Engineering, Electronic Music Production, Music Business, Music Journalism, Songwriting, Vocal Performance, Video Production, and Instrumental Performance. Each track culminates in virtual media projects, recordings, and/or performances.
